opencv stuff

I just found this blog from two guys doing some computer vision stuff using OpenCV. They provide also code:
http://www.morethantechnical.com/

I haven't really checked the algorithms and the code in detail.
But maybe there is something useful for some of you.

Is it possible to exceptionally have the reading group at 2.30pm so as to be on time for the Christmas TAM?
Please tell me if it is not OK, otherwise I will assume 2.30pm is good.

Best regards,

Alex

Permanent time shift

Hello,

All upcoming reading groups will take place once a fortnight on Mondays at 2pm instead of 11am, so that people from Daniel's group can attend as well. Feel free to suggest any paper you would like being discussed, as long as the topic is related to vision.

Hello,

To simplify the procedure, it would be more practical to have an ordered list of speakers who will take turns for future reading groups.
Regarding previous presentations, I suggest the following order:

-CC
-Stefan
-Rémi
-Alex
-Jagan
-Samira

Each presenter is invited to choose a paper he finds interesting for him/her and for the group and to post it at least one week before on the blog.

It would be good if we could try to stick to it.

Let me know if you have any problem with that.

Best regards,

Alex

The truth about binomial distribution

In short, CC is right, the others and the references to “multinomial” in the papers are wrong.

A Head/Tail distribution is a “Bernoulli distribution”.
A “Binomial distribution” counts the occurrences (e.g. of Head) of successive Bernoulli outcomes.

Thus a multinomial is like a binomial, counting outcomes, but with more possible outcomes.
The base generalization of Head/Tail is a “Categorical distribution”.

for reading group on next monday

Hi guys,

As for the reading group of next Monday, I have put the papers in Chongyang's folder at /idiap/user/cliu/reading_group. (my folder is not yet ready. :) )

As you can see, there are two papers in the folder. One is from cvpr08 and the other is from icip09. The two papers share some similar ideas, and we can discuss them on Monday.
